When we walk down the street, the bag we carry says a little something about us.
If it’s made by Fendi, Gucci, or Prada, we’re wealthy.
If it’s made by Jansport, we’re in school. If it’s made by McDonald’s, we’re most likely embarrassed.
According to a new study recently conducted by Subway (hmm…), in which 1,001 Americans from just about every demographic were polled, participants were asked which bag they were most embarrassed to carry on the street: Taco Bell, McDonald’s Subway, or Wendy's.
Subway got 11 percent of the vote, Wendy’s got 14 percent, Taco Bell received 33 percent, and McDonald’s ran away with 42 percent. A whopping 48 percent of all women polled said that they wouldn’t be caught dead with a McDonald’s bag, and 46 percent of all respondents between 18 and 34 felt the same way.
When the question was turned around, however, 12.7 percent of respondents said that they were more proud to carry a McDonald’s bag than one from Subway, Wendy’s or Taco Bell. And 62 percent said they felt a degree of pride in carrying a bag from Subway.
We’re not exactly sure that carrying a bag of fast food should necessarily be a source of pride, but the next time you find yourself carrying a McDonald’s bag, you might as well go against the grain and flaunt it.
