With November officially upon us, it's now time to watch Americans melt credit cards and empty their bonuses into their favorite retail outlets. The team at Mint has pieced together a visual of spending habits as broken down by males and females, with some interesting figures to boot.

According to the study, holiday shoppers are expected to spend an average of $749.51 on gifts, decorations, food, and other items to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. Topping that average is the male spending estimate, weighing in at $775.78, a good $51 over the female spending average of $724.23. Surprisingly, males also lead the weigh in spending on gifts for their friends and co-workers, while they spend nearly $11 less than females on gifts for their own family. Less peculiarly, men also spend more on flowers during the holiday season, but also still outspend females on decorations and greeting cards and postage.

Reports also point to shopper starting as early as pre-September, while the majority of holiday shoppers plan to conduct their retail duties in the month of November. The survey of shoppers also notes that the last four weeks of December are quite indicative of shopping behaviors, per sex. For example, only 2.5% of female shoppers on average will conduct their shopping in the last two weeks of the month, while 4.6% of males will take the last two weeks of December to do their holiday shopping.
